Start with the furniture, not the empty wall
Large wall art usually feels more balanced when its width relates to the furniture below it. Above a sofa or sideboard, begin around two-thirds of the furniture width, then check the visual weight of the artwork and frame.
Allow breathing room
Keep a clear gap between the furniture and the bottom of the artwork. In most rooms, the centre of the artwork should sit close to natural eye level rather than being pushed too high.
Use one large work or a controlled set
A single horizontal canvas gives a calm, architectural result. A diptych or triptych can cover the same width while adding rhythm. Keep spacing consistent between panels.
Before ordering
Measure the available width, photograph the wall straight on and note nearby colours. This gives a reliable basis for size, palette and frame recommendations.
